May 30th - Personalised Tailmounts

It's that time of year again - hawks going into aviaries or put down to moult ready for next season. Also a great time to start thinking about ordering your personalised tailmounts. Previously we were able to obtain a discount from the manufacturer if we placed several orders at one time, having them sent to one address and saving on postage also. Hopefully we can negotiate a similar arrangement ( around £10.00 per tailmount ) this time around should we have enough people needing them. I will open a thread on the forum, so if you are interested, please add your names there. We will monitor this and advise you directly as to when we intend to order.

May 29th - Club Meeting

The May 29th meeting was another great club evening with Neil Forbes giving us his Nutrition During Breeding talk. All of us will have had something to take away on the evening.

EQUIPMENT

We now have a replenished supply of equipment from Bob Dalton's Falcon Leisure. You can view items by clicking on the equipment link on the left. Bob has added a  a selection of hawking vests to the items we are stocking, so if you are in need of one, contact John Tyas.

Neil Forbes Management of Raptors for Health and Longevity Course, Swindon - June 15th - Price £35.00

As Neil briefed us at last night's meeting, he is running the above course in the near future. Having attended this course twice to date, I can thoroughly recommend it for all raptor keepers and breeders. If we have enough members interested in attending, we will look into hiring a mini-bus to save us all some fuel coste and take the stress out of driving! Mini busses usually seat around 14, so once we achieve that number, we will go ahead and hire. I will obtain a quote or two, and we will divide this up between those attending, and at a rough guess I would say we could do this for around £50 - £55.00 per person to include your course fee.

I will also open a new thread on the forum for interested parties to reply to - so if you want to go, make sure you declare your interest on the forum!!

AGM - 31st January, 2008 Committee elected

The club AGM was held on 31st January, and elections for committee offices took place. The presiding chairman read out nominees for each office, and a show of hands was asked from members present to indicate their choice for that office. The process was made simple by the fact that there was only one nominee per position. Once the committee members were decided, the chairman stood down and his office was decided by the same process. the results were as follows:

Chairman: Glynne Malkin

Secretary: Kate Malkin

Treasurer: Marvin Moore

Hawkboard Rep: Grant Dudley

Events: Dave Whittaker

Owls and Social Events: John Elliott

Webmaster: John Tyas

Welcome aboard to the new committee members, and a huge vote of thanks to the existing committee for steering the ship through a tough time, particularly to Julian, who stood in as chairman pending the AGM. Grant Dudley, our Hawkboard rep attended his first meeting on 30th Jan, and enjoyed the experience. He met and chatted with several board members and club reps, and is dedicated to keeping the club posted on issues concerning our sport in the future. This site will be dedicating a page especially to Grant for Hawkboard news and views, but as discussed at the AGM, we would encourage all members to use the forum if you have anything you would like Grant to take to the Hawkboard on yours or the clubs behalf - that's why we created it. The Forum is also a great means of communication between all of us for whatever reason - we know people are viewing posts - but very few are replying or creating posts of their own. So remember - if you have anything you would like to ask the committee, whether it's for help and support if you are new to the sport, whether you have a bird or articles for sale, whether ( as Paul Dickie did ) it's to warn people of threats of theft regarding vehicles or birds..put it up there!!

Looking forward to 2008, happy hawking!!
